The Judicial Board of the PSGA is the official judicial branch of the Purchase Student Government Association. The Judicial Board ensures that necessary checks and balances are in place, and keeps the legislative and executive branches from exceeding their constitutionally given powers. The main function of the Judicial Board is to ensure that the actions of the Senate and Executive Board are in compliance with the governing documents and ethical considerations.
The court is comprised of one chief justice, three associate justice, and two reserve justices. Each justice is appointed by the Student Government President and confirmed by the Senate. Each of the justices of the court enjoys a two year appointment – thereby ensuring consistency with judicial decisions rendered.
The jurisdiction of the Judicial Board does not extend to cases of harassment or other egregious behavior, such events are handled by the Office of Community Standards. The Judicial Board’s jurisdiction deals exclusively with the parameters and the use of student government association powers as used by Purchase Student Government Association officers.
